’Cricket: A Weekly Record of the Game’ ran from 1882 to 1913 when it was renamed ‘The World of Cricket’ for twenty three issues in 1914. An ‘Important Notice’ printed on the rear page of the issue dated 15th August 1914 announced that, with the outbreak of the War, publication would be suspended, however a further three issues in September, October and November were published before finally ceasing. The appearance of a regular cricket magazine did not resume until the first issue of ‘The Cricketer’ was published in 1921.
