Original single-sided printed card of a poem by Craig titled ‘Welcome Back Again. His Highness the Jam Sahib of Nawanagar (Prince Ranjitsinhji). The “Master Hand” scores 141 not out at Lords in the Middlesex v. Sussex Match. June 1908’. Immediately below the title is a handwritten annotation in ink ‘Increased to 153 (not out) next day, in addition to 78 second innings’. Written in three stanzas, Craig effuses ‘Enchanted, we your prowess still applaud,/ Whilst Trott and Tarrant’s teasers you defy./ Your zeal for Sussex is a healthy sign-/ A mighty power transferred from you to Vine.’ Printed below ‘A.C., Cricket Rhymster (Written on the Mound at Lords during the progress of the match)’. The card measures 4.5”x6”. Crease to top left corner, otherwise in very good condition.
