Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji. Cambridge University, Sussex, London County & England, 1893-1920. Original two page printed letter on Jamnagar Palace official letterhead dated 20th August 1910 with handwritten salutation to ‘My dear Thakorsahib’ and the signature ‘Ranjitsinhji, Nawanagar’ in ink with other annotations. The letter relates to a fundraising campaign for the restoration of a sacred Hindu temple ‘dedicated to the God “Shiva”... situated amongst the “Fuleshwer Hills”’. Ranji is asking for subscriptions, donations and permission for the sale of lottery tickets. Light folds, staple/ pin holes to top left corner, otherwise in very good condition.
In 1907 Ranjitsinhji became Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanagar and was increasingly involved in the administration of his State, limiting his appearance in County cricket thereafter.
