Lord’s Taverners 1950s-1970s. Box comprising a good selection of programmes, menus, scorecards and the odd photograph relating to Lord’s Taverners events, from the collection of Alan Curtis, English actor and Lord’s cricket announcer. Includes an original pen and ink artwork of caricatures of attendees at the ‘Lord’s Taverners Leicester Inaugural Luncheon’, 20th November 1975, signed by seventeen including Fred Rumsey, Reg Simpson, Ray Illingworth, Ben Brocklehurst, Jack Birkenshaw, Alan Curtis, Graham McKenzie, Tony Swainson etc. and the artist Donald E. Green, dated 1976. Framed and glazed, overall 15.5”x21”. Slight fading, otherwise good. Other contents include official souvenir programmes for Lord’s Taverners Annual Balls 1951, 1963-1973 with duplication, and a good selection of official programmes for cricket matches and other charity events including Harry Secombe golf days, boxing etc. Folder of correspondence to and from Curtis, scorecards, photographs relating to matches. A large poster (folded) for the Twenty First birthday celebration match v an Old England XI at Lord’s 1971. Twenty six issues of ‘The Lord’s Taverner’s newsletter from the first issue January 1963 to Spring 1972. A 1967 scorecard signed by Derek Underwood and Syd Buller. Two Gradidge ‘Rothmans of Pall Mall’ miniature bats, one signed by sixteen Surrey players including Micky Stewart, John Edrich, Geoff Arnold, Pat Pocock etc., the other with printed signatures of ‘English Test Veterans’ and ‘Australian Touring Team 1961’. Both 17.5”. Good condition.
