Cricket photographs from the collection of Alan Curtis, English actor and Lord’s cricket announcer, 1960s/1970s. A large selection of original photographs including seventeen original mono press photographs of which three are signed by the featured players, some with dedication ‘To Alan’. Signatures are Basil D’Oliveira, Garry Sobers, Colin Cowdrey and Brian Close. Others unsigned feature Ray Illingworth, Alan Knott, Ashley Mallett, with other subjects including charity matches, a flooded pitch at The Oval, crowd scenes, teams, three of England players coaching at a township in South Africa etc. The majority 10”x8”. Agencies include Central Press Photos, Sport & General, Solly van Staden (South Africa) etc. Sold with five candid style colour photographs, each laid to tightly trimmed card, signed by the featured player(s). Signatures are Mike Brearley & Ian Botham, Mike Denness, Bill Athey and Tony Greig (two different), and one other unsigned mono photograph of Garry Sobers. Each 7”x5”. Also two packs of candid photographs, one featuring cricketers, presumably at a charity match, in 1963. Good condition.
