‘Averages. Gentlemen & Players’. Oblong shaped brass belt buckle with title to top and two lists of the Gentlemen and the Players averages below. The Gentlemen players listed are W.G. Grace 57.3, W. Yardley 32.8, A.N. Hornby 31.4, F.E.R. Fryer 27, C.J.Ottaway 18.4 and C.I. Thornton 11.16 and on the Players side J. Selby 41.8, R. Daft 34.11, H. Charlwood 28.9, E. Lockwood 25.7, R. Humphrey 23.36 and H. Jupp 21.30. Bat and ball decoration to base of the buckle. circa 1870’s. The hook and clasp to verso appear to have had some restoration. Approximately 2.5”x1.75”. Good condition
