Roy Kilner. Yorkshire, Europeans & England 1911-1927. Large and impressive hallmarked silver salver with hoof style feet. Inscription to centre read ‘To Roy Kilner Yorkshire XI. A token of Sheffield’s esteem of his sterling cricket for England in Australia 1924-25 from the Directors of the ‘Yorkshire Daily Telegraph’. The salver with pie crust edge has hallmarks for London 1899 and makers marks for Mappin & Webb of Sheffield and London. The salver measures 12” diameter. Very good condition
Kilner was not selected for the first two Test matches but played in the final three. He took eight wickets in the match during the third Test at Adelaide, made 74 in England’s only innings at Melbourne and taking five wickets in the match in the fourth Test and in the fifth Test he took 4-97 in Australia’s first innings at Sydney. Overall on the tour he took 40 wickets at 25.17 and scored 448 runs with an average of 24.88
