Roy Kilner. Yorkshire, Europeans & England 1911-1927. Impressive hallmarked silver cigarette box with machine tooled decoration to the box lid. Inscription to front ‘To Roy Kilner from Rowntree & Co Ltd, York to commemorate Australia Tour 1924-25’. The wood lined silver box, split into two sections internally, has hallmarks for Birmingham 1924 and makers marks for William Neale Ltd of Birmingham. The box measures 7.5”x3.5”x2.5” high. Some bumping to corners and minor bumping to some extremities of the case otherwise in good/very good condition
Kilner was not selected for the first two Test matches but played in the final three. He took eight wickets in the match during the third Test at Adelaide, made 74 in England’s only innings at Melbourne and taking five wickets in the match in the fourth Test and in the fifth Test he took 4-97 in Australia’s first innings at Sydney. Overall on the tour he took 40 wickets at 25.17 and scored 448 runs with an average of 24.88
