Glenn McGrath. New South Wales & Australia 1992-2008. Australian sleeveless Test sweater worn by McGrath in the England v Australia ‘Ashes’ series played in England of the summer of 1997. The white sweater, by ’Silver Fleece of Australia’, with Australian green and gold trimming and Australia emblem to the centre of the sweater. Initials ‘G. Mc’’ to neck label. Very good condition
Glenn McGrath was the leading Australian bowler in the series taking thirty six wickets for 701 runs giving an average of 19.47. There were six Test matches played in the 1997 series, McGrath took 8-38 in the second Test at Lord’s in England’s first innings, 4-46 in the second innings in the 3rd Test at Old Trafford, 4-71 and 3-36 at the 5th Test at Nottingham and 7-76 in England’s first innings in the 6th Test at the Oval. Australia won the Ashes by three Test to two, with one match drawn. McGrath is considered one of cricket’s greatest bowlers and a leading contributor to Australia’s domination of world cricket from the mid-1990s to the late 2000s taking 563 Test wickets at 21.64
