George Hubert Graham Doggart. Cambridge University, Sussex & England 1948-1961. Sussex navy blue 1st XI cloth cricket cap worn by Doggart during his playing career. The cap, by Foster of London, embroidered with the six martlet’s emblem of Sussex to front. The cap is a little worn and the colour of the emblem faded otherwise in good condition. Bought by the late vendor at auction in the late 1990’s
Hubert Doggart played 210 first class matches and averaged 31.51 with the bat with a best of 219no playing for Cambridge against Essex in 1949, he made two appearances for England in the home series with the West Indies. He was President of M.C.C. in 1981/82
