Freeman, Hardy & Willis c.1900. Four early advertising cards featuring cricket scenes/ cartoons. One, titled ‘Cricket Cranks. Find the Doctor’, features a roundel of an illustration of F.S. Jackson with a humorous scene of a cricketer being charged by a bull, printed in red and black. Other cards, printed in colour, depict illustrations of cricketers at play, with titles ‘Middlesex v. Lancashire. Find W.G. Grace and a Lancashire Lad’, Petty series no. 8074, ‘Hitting Out. Find Jessop & MacLaren’, with registration no. 12474, and ‘Hit Wicket. Find Brown & Tunnicliffe’ no. 12474. Each card with advertising to verso for Freeman, Hardy & Willis retail outlets. Faults to the three colour cards with some tears and loss to edges, otherwise in good condition.
