Victorian advertising trade cards. Seven late Victorian advertising trade cards featuring cricket scenes. Includes two Belgian cards, one for ‘Grand Maison de Blanc’, the other ‘Chocolaterie Marchal’, both of Brussels, and one French card, ‘Chocolat Martougin’ of Paris. Two are titled ‘Cricket Series’, one with caption ‘Puzzle: Find the Captain’ with advertising to verso for Brundle’s of South Lowestoft, the other ‘Puzzle Find Trumper’ for Dodd Bros. of Tunbridge Wells. Another is titled ‘Our Eleven. The “Skipper” Bats’ for The Central Furnishing Stores, Bolton. Also a scrap depicting a batsman playing a stroke with marquee in the background, titled ‘The Drive’. Various sizes, 5.5”x3.5” and smaller. Sold with two advertising postcards, one a mono real photograph postcard for ‘The “Pesco” All-round Man’ of a boy batting, the other for Johnson, Johnson & Co.’s Pure Tea titled ‘The Secret of a Century’.
