M.C.C. tour to Australia 1920/21. ‘A Voyage with the Mails Between Brisbane- London... A memento by an amateur photographer’. London Stereoscopic Company, London, third edition c.1920. A large format souvenir book with decorative blue cloth covers, comprising photographs and descriptions of ports of call on the journey on the Orient Line ‘R.M.S. Osterley’. Includes a collection of twenty four signatures in ink on two facing pages, each within printed borders, including on the ‘Autographs’ page all sixteen members of the M.C.C. touring party who made the voyage. Also a further eight signatures of passengers. Players’ signatures, nicely signed in ink, are Douglas (Captain), Woolley, Waddington, Parkin, Strudwick, Hobbs, Rhodes, Makepeace, Hendren, Wilson, Russell, Hearne, Dolphin, Howell, Fender and Toone (Manager). Lacking the signature of Hitch who travelled on a later boat. The book was signed by the M.C.C. team on their outward journey from Tilbury to Melbourne with some signatures dated 21st October 1920. Original decorative boards. Wear to covers, front internal hinge broken with breaking to rear hinge. Some minor internal foxing, otherwise in good condition.
