‘Two Cricket Songs’. Norman Gale. Printed for the author by Albert Frost & Sons, Rugby in 1926. Eight page book in original green wrappers with lyrics to two songs ‘Urgent’ and ‘A Strike’. The first song ‘Urgent!’ is about the first Test of 1926 at Trent Bridge when rain (Jupiter Pluvius) allowed only 50 minutes of play in the match, with mentions of the captains Collins and Carr and of Tate. ‘A Strike’ is a political song with a cricket theme, with reference to Hobbs. Bound in to later green cloth with gilt titles to spine. Padwick 6570. Very good condition. Rare.
Gale was a prolific poet and songster.
