‘Batting and Bowling. With Hints on Fielding and Wicket-Keeping’. R. Gorton Barlow and Richard Pilling. London 1882. 31pp. Two versions/ editions, both with original decorative paper wrappers, bound together as one volume in blue cloth. One in pink wrappers with illustration of Barlow to front, the other in yellow wrappers with an alternative design to the front with no illustration. Otherwise the two ‘versions’ appear identical, both comprising nine illustrations of player technique and fielding positions. Padwick 402 does not record alternative versions. Bookplates of J.W. Goldman to inside front covers. Breaking to page block between the two volumes. The pink version with staining to the rear wrapper and foxing to some pages, the yellow edition with old tape repair to inside front hinge, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
