Arthur Edward Wilson. Middlesex & Gloucestershire 1932-1955. Large leather cricket bag used by Wilson during his cricketing career playing for Middlesex and Gloucestershire. The bag has central handles and a central lock strap and buckle, sealed by straps and buckles and metal clips at each end and measures 36” long. The bag is inscribed ‘A.E.W.’ being Wilson’s initials. The bag is generally worn but otherwise in good overall condition
Andy Wilson, a wicketkeeper, Played briefly for Middlesex before playing for Gloucestershire between 1936 and 1955. He became their first choice keeper a couple of years later after he had qualified for residence. He scored 1138 runs in his debut season and after the war he began opening the batting for the county. He took 30 stumpings in 1947 and made his highest score of 188 against Sussex in 1949. For every season until 1950 he passed 1000 runs, last achieving the feat in 1953.
