‘Surrey v. Yorkshire’ 1851. Early and rare small original single sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Kennington Oval, 4th & 5th August 1851. Yorkshire elected to bat first and reached 71, the top scorer being George Chatterton (15), Surrey’s Thomas Sherman taking 6/39. Surrey replied with 160, Julius Caesar top scoring with 51, John Berry taking 6/31. In the second innings Yorkshire reached 101 (Tom Hunt 36, Sherman 5/57, Daniel Day 5/27), and Surrey knocked off the required runs to end 13 without loss to win by ten wickets. ‘J. & F.
