‘All England Eleven against United All England Eleven (for the Benefit of the Cricketers’ Fund)’ 1860. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Lord’s, 28th- 30th May 1860. All England elected to bat first but could make only 71 with Julius Caesar top scorer with 19, William Caffyn taking 7/44 for United England. United England then posted a small lead reaching 89 in reply, Thomas Hearne making 31. George Tarrant, making his first-class debut and in his first match at Lord’s, took 6/28 for All England. In the second innings All England reached a more respectable 131 with George Parr top scorer with 55. Requiring 114 to win, United England were bowled out for 92 (James Grundy 27, George Griffith 26), All England winning by 21 runs. All England’s Crispin Tinley was reportedly dismissed first ball for a ‘king pair’ in both innings. Printed ‘By Authority of Mr. J.H. Dark’ by F. Lillywhite with fixtures at Lord’s and advertising for ‘Lillywhite’s Guide to Cricketers’ etc. to lower portion of front and to verso. 4.5”x6”. Horizontal fold, minor age toning, otherwise in good condition.
