‘Gentlemen of Sussex v. Gentlemen of Hampshire’ 1869. Early original scorecard for the match played at the Royal Brunswick Ground, Hove, 22nd- 24th July 1869 with complete printed scores. Gentlemen of Hampshire batted first and made 321 with Charles Lucas top scorer with 92. They then dismissed Gentlemen of Sussex for 126 with Okeover Longcroft taking 5/35. Following on, Sussex then reached 247, William Weighell scoring 101. Despite early dismissals, Hampshire reached their target ending 54/5 to win by five wickets. Originally from the archives of Sussex C.C.C. Printed by H. Crowhurst with advertising to lower margin. 4.75”x6.25”. The scorecard appears to have been laid down to stiff card and trimmed, otherwise in good condition.
