‘Gentlemen v. Players’ 1876. Early and rare original double sided scorecard for the match played at the Prince’s Ground, Chelsea, 6th- 8th July 1876. The scorecard with incomplete printed scores depicting the first innings total of the Players’ 158 (Ephraim Lockwood 70), the Gentlemen 144 (A.P. Lucas 35), with the Players second innings standing at 37/3. The Players went on to make 134 (Dick Barlow 45), and the Gentlemen then chased down the required target to end 151/5 to win by five wickets, W.G. Grace top scorer with 33, G.F. Grace ending 30no. W.G. Grace took five wickets in each innings to return match bowling figures of 10/149. Printer unknown. Printed fixtures at Prince’s Ground for 1876 to verso. Small loss to two corners, minor age toning and foxing, otherwise in good condition.
