‘Grand Return Cricket Match between the counties of Nottingham & Middlesex’ 1876. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Trent Bridge, 17th- 19th August 1876. Nottinghamshire elected to bat first and reached 217 thanks to an innings of 99 from Richard Daft, Walter Hadow of Middlesex taking 5/47. In reply, Middlesex were bowled out for 134, A.J. Webbe top scorer with 44, Alfred Shaw taking 5/47. Following on, Middlesex scored 214 in their second innings (Isaac Walker 48, A.J. Webbe 47, H.R. Webbe 48), with Shaw taking a further five wickets to end with match figures of ten wickets for 103 runs. Set 132 to win, Nottinghamshire ended 42 runs short with two wickets remaining at the close of play and the match was drawn. Printed on the ground by George Richards of Nottingham with fixtures and local advertising to verso including Richard Daft’s Cricket, Football and Lawn Tennis Emporium. 4.5”x6”. Some foxing, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
