Harrow Wanderers C.C. 1877. Two early original single sided scorecards for matches played by Harrow Wanderers, both with complete printed scores. One for the match played v. Leeds Clarence at Clarence Field, Kirkstall, Leeds, 27th & 28th July 1877. Leeds Clarence scored 149 and 99, Harrow Wanderers 250 in their only innings to win by an innings and two runs. The other for the drawn match v. Lascelles Hall, played at Lascelles Hall, 3rd & 4th August 1877. Lascelles Hall scored 148 and 334/8, Harrow Wanderers 289 in their only innings. The Wanderers fielded strong teams in both games including Albert Hornby (England 3 Tests) and his brother, Cecil, also Alexander Webbe (England 1 Test), Issac Walker etc. All eleven members of the team for the match against Lascelles Hall played first-class cricket. Both scorecards measure 4.5”x6”, the Lascelles Hall card printed by W. Whittam ‘Printer to the All England Eleven’, the other unknown. The Leeds Clarence scorecard appears to be laid down to tightly trimmed blue card. Light foxing to both, otherwise in very good condition.
Harrow Wanderers C.C. was formed by Old Boys to benefit the school’s cricket.
