‘Somerset C.C. v. Public Schools’ 1879. Unusual early original double sided scorecard for a match at Horsington, 4th & 5th August 1879. The card with printed titles and umpires listed as Major T.R. Parr (Eton) and Mr. R.H. Hayward (Harrow), with hand drawn figures of cricketers to either side in pen and ink, one hand coloured with red cap and blazer, the other with blue cap and waist band, both on green ground. To the centre appears to be the two teams listed in ink, however these are faded and illegible. To verso, hand painted diagonal Somerset colours of red and black. No record of the match can be found, nor any record of the umpires standing in any match. Printer unknown. 6”x4.5”. Minor soiling, otherwise in very good condition.
