Australia tour to England 1893. M.C.C. & Ground v. Australians. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed and handwritten scores in ink for the match played at Lord’s, 12th- 14th June 1893. The Australians elected to bat and reached 231, opener John Lyons top scorer with 83, Harry Trott making 56. M.C.C. replied with 236, W.G. Grace scoring 75, Charlie Turner taking 7/86 for the Australians. In the second innings the Australians were dismissed for 179, (William Bruce 46no, Lyons 45). Set 175 to win, M.C.C. ended 178/3 to win by seven wickets, with A.E. Stoddart (74) and Grace (45) sharing an opening stand of 120. Described in Wisden to be ‘probably the fastest bowler in the history of the game’, Charles Kortright (Essex 1894-1907) made his first-class debut in this match, playing for M.C.C., taking eight wickets in the match for 129 runs. 4.5”x6”. Fixtures at Lord’s for season 1893 to verso. Minor stain, otherwise in very good condition.
