‘Kent v. Sussex’ 1893. Early original single sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, 27th & 28th July 1893. Kent won the toss and batted first, scoring 236. Frank Marchant top scored with 63, Walter Humphreys taking 7/109 for Sussex. Sussex were then bowled out for 98, George Brann top scorer with 31. Following on Sussex were dismissed for 158, Francis Marlow (44), Brann (30), Walter Hearne taking 5/40. Set only 21 to win, Kent reached their target with ease losing only one wicket. Jack Mason, making his first-class debut ended 14no, Kent winning by nine wickets. Printed on the ground by T.W. Thornton, ‘Journal’ Office, Beckenham. 4.5”x6”. Originally from the collection of J.R. Mason. Adhesive marks to verso where previously laid down, otherwise in very good condition.
