‘Eton v. Winchester’ 1894 & 1895. Two early original double sided scorecards with complete printed scores. One for the match played at Ridding Field, Winchester, 29th & 30th June 1894 in which Eton scored 206, Winchester 172 and, following on, 144. Eton ended 112/5 to win by five wickets. The other is for the match played at Upper Club, Eton College, 28th & 29th June 1895. Eton scored 343 in their only innings. Winchester made 209 and were then bowled out for only 47 in their second innings, Eton winning by an innings and 87 runs. Players who went on to play county cricket from Eton include H.B. Chinnery (Surrey & Middlesex), G.E. Bromley-Martin (Worcestershire), F.H.E. Cunliffe (Middlesex), C.C. Pilkington (Lancashire & Middlesex), and from Winchester, A.L. Gibson (Essex), E.C. Lee (Hampshire), G.E. Winter (Middlesex), F.D.H. Joy (Somerset) etc. The 1895 scorecard printed by Eton College Press, the 1894 unknown. Both cards measure 4.5”x6”, each with adhesive marks to verso where previously laid down, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
