M.C.C. and Ground v. Oxfordshire’ 1897. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Lord’s, 30th & 31st August 1897. M.C.C. batted first and posted 278 (Lionel Thring 54, John Rawlin 51, Percy Hattersley-Smith 50). In reply, Oxfordshire struggled to 84 with only Francis Deane (27) and Charles Gmelin (18) reaching double figures. Remarkably Albert Trott took all ten wickets for M.C.C. Following on Oxfordshire were dismissed cheaply again, this time for 88, Trott taking a further six wickets ending with match bowling figures of sixteen wickets for 93 runs. Trott and Rawlin bowled unchanged throughout, M.C.C. winning by an innings and 106 runs. Originally from the M.C.C. collection. Fixtures at Lord’s for season 1897 to verso. Horizontal fold, otherwise in very good condition.
Albert Trott played three Tests for Australia in the 1894/95 Ashes series but was not selected for the Australian’s 1896 tour to England. He paid his own passage and joined the M.C.C. ground staff, and played in two Test matches for England on the 1898/99 tour to South Africa.
