‘London County C.C. v. Surrey’ 1902. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Crystal Palace, 24th- 26th April 1902. London County, captained by W.G. Grace and featuring former Australia captain Billy Murdoch, batted first and reached 169, George Beldam top scorer with 46. Surrey established a small first innings lead posting 196, Bill Brockwell scoring 52. George Gill took 6/50 for London County who then outplayed their opponents with a second innings total of 433, Grace scoring 97, Murdoch 92, Beldam 60, and the last two wickets contributing 94 runs. Surrey were then bowled out for 210, Grace taking 5/33, London County winning by 196 runs. Playing for Surrey, Donald Adams played his only first-class match, in which he took one wicket, that of Grace, clean bowled in the first innings. Surrey’s Herbert Strudwick also made his first-class debut in this match, recording a ‘pair’ of ducks. Fixtures at Crystal Palace for 1920 to verso.
