‘Surrey v. London County C.C.’ 1902. Early original double sided scorecard with printed scores complete to the end of the second day’s play, for the return match at Kennington Oval, 28th- 30th April 1902. Surrey won the toss and batted first, reaching 297, Vivian Crawford top scorer with 97, Ernie Hayes with 50, Len Braund taking 5/168. London County, again captained by W.G. Grace and featuring former Australia captain Billy Murdoch, then posted 407, a first innings lead of 110 with C.B. Fry (82) and Grace (61) putting on 130 for the first wicket. The last wicket was worth 57 with Buck Llewellyn ending 65no, Jack Board scoring 31. The scorecard shows Surrey at 185/8 at the close of the second day’s play. They were dismissed soon after for 192, Bobby Abel top scorer with 77, Llewellyn taking 7/50. London County then chased down the target (Fry 49no) to end 85/1 and win by nine wickets. Printed on the ground by Merritt & Hatcher Ltd., London. 4.5”x6”. Fixtures at The Oval for 1902 to verso. Very good condition.
