South Africa tour to England 1904. ‘M.C.C. & Ground v. South Africans’. Early original double sided scorecard with incomplete printed and faintly handwritten scores in pencil for the tour match played at Lord’s 11th- 13th August 1904. No play was possible on the first day and when M.C.C. batted in their first innings they made 120, Arthur Page top scorer with 45. The South Africans replied with 223 (Frank Mitchell 60no). In the second innings, M.C.C. scored 192 (Frank Tarrant 61, Gerry Weighall 40) which left the South Africans requiring 90 runs to win. This they did with openers Louis Tancred (45no) and William Shalders (30no) seeing them through to victory by ten wickets. Printed ‘Results since 1894’ and fixtures at Lord’s for 1904 to verso. Minor age toning, otherwise in good/very good condition.
