‘Nottinghamshire v. Gloucestershire’ 1904. Early original commemorative silk scorecard for the match played at Trent Bridge, 18th- 20th July 1904. In a remarkable high scoring game, Gloucestershire chose to bat first and made an impressive 636. The first wicket fell at 154 (Harry Wrathall 75, Jack Board 80), but the innings was most notable for Gilbert Jessop’s 206, supported by 94 from Leigh Brownlee. Nottinghamshire replied with 242 (Arthur Jones 71). Following on, openers Jones (187) and James Iremonger (138) put on 303 for the first wicket, but the innings collapsed with all ten wickets falling for 90 runs, a total of 393, Gloucestershire winning by an innings and one run. Gloucestershire’s Edward Spry took five wickets in each innings, ten wickets in the match. Printed by Charles H. Richards of Nottingham. 5.25”x8”. Originally from the collection of A.O. Jones, captain of Nottinghamshire in this match. The scorecard is laid down by the top and bottom edges to black album page. Slight adhesive show-through, otherwise in very good condition.
