Essex C.C.C. 1904 & 1907. Three early original double sided scorecards for Essex ‘home’ county matches played at Leyton. Matches are v. Lancashire, 11th- 13th August 1904 with complete printed scores for a high scoring drawn game in which Lancashire scored 505/6 declared (Reggie Spooner 215, James Hallows 125) and Essex ended 559/9 (Percy Perrin 143). 5”x8.25”. v. Gloucestershire, 20th- 22nd May 1907, complete printed scores. Essex scored 233 (Charlie McGahey 96, Percy Ford 5/66) and 155 (Ford 6/52, eleven wickets in the match), Gloucestershire 260 (Thomas Langdon 88, Gilbert Jessop 86, Walter Mead 6/52) and 88 (Mead 4/34, ten wickets in the match). Essex won by 40 runs. 5”x9.5”. v. Nottinghamshire, 6th- 8th June 1907, complete printed scores. A low scoring game in which Nottinghamshire scored 100 (Mead 8/39) and 76 (Mead 4/34, twelve wickets in the match, Bill Reeves 6/41), Essex 59 (Albert Hallam 6/18) and 110 (Hallam 7/38, thirteen wickets in the match), Nottinghamshire winning by just seven runs. 5”x9.5”. All three printed on the ground by Phelp Brothers of Leyton, with local advertising to verso. Minor wear and age toning, otherwise in very good condition.
