Australia tour to England 1905. ‘Nottinghamshire v. Australians’. Rare early original commemorative silk scorecard for the tour match played at Trent Bridge, 8th- 10th May 1905. The Australians batted first and found themselves in some trouble at 14/3 until Monty Nobel (62) and Warwick Armstrong (112) put on 128 for the fourth wicket. Late runs from Albert Cotter (41) helped them to 288. John Gunn and Tom Wass took five wickets each. In reply, Nottinghamshire reached 219 with Arthur Jones top scorer with 72. Batting in the second innings, the Australians declared at 234/4 (Victor Trumper 61, Armstrong 56, Clem Hill 44) to set Nottinghamshire 304 to win. A century from Jones (103) and 67 from John Gunn gave them a chance, but time ran out and they ended 237/4 with the match drawn. Printed by Charles H. Richards of Nottingham. The scorecard lightly laid to black album page with small adhesive strips to verso showing through to front, otherwise in very good condition. Sold with a further early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the Yorkshire v Australians match played at Park Avenue, Bradford, 5th- 7th June 1905. Printed by Clegg & Son of Bradford. Local advertising to front and verso. 5”x10”. Lower portion has become detached with old tape repair to verso. Other corner and edge wear, nick to edge, otherwise in good condition. Qty 2
