South Africa tour to England 1929. Six official scorecards including for the five matches played in the England v South Africa Test series, and one tour match. Two scorecards signed. Test match scorecards are 1st Test, Edgbaston, 15th- 18th June, complete printed scores, England scored 245 (Patsy Hendren 70) & 308/4 dec. (Wally Hammond 138, Herbert Sutcliffe 114), South Africa 250 (Bruce Mitchell 99, Bob Catterall 67) & 171/1 (Catterall 98, Mitchell 61no), the match was drawn. Nicely signed in ink by by Mitchell and Catterall (‘heart-broken’). 2nd Test, Lord’s, 29th June- 2nd July, complete printed and handwritten scores in ink, England scored 302 (Herbert Sutcliffe 100, Maurice Leyland 73), Sandy Bell 6/99) & 312 (Leyland 102, Maurice Tate 100no), South Africa 322 (Denijs Morkel 88, Jim Christy 70) & 90/5, the match was drawn. 3rd Test, Headingley, 13th- 16th July, complete printed scores, South Africa scored 236 (Bob Catterall 74, Tich Freeman 7/115) & 275 (Tuppy Owen-Smith 129), England 328 (Frank Woolley 83, Neville Quinn 6/92) & 186/5 (Woolley 95no), England won by five wickets. Signed in ink by Catterall and Denijs Morkel. Loss and wear. 4th Test, Old Trafford, 27th- 30th July, incomplete printed scores, England scored 427/7 dec. (Woolley 154, Bob Wyatt 113), South Africa 130 (Freeman 7/71) & 265 (Freeman 5/100), England won by an innings and 32 runs. 5th Test, Kennington Oval, 17th- 20th August, incomplete printed and handwritten scores in ink, England scored 258 (Sutcliffe 104) & 264/1 (Sutcliffe 109no, Hammond 101no), South Africa 492/8 dec. (Herbie Taylor 121), match drawn. The tour scorecard is for the match v Lancashire, Old Trafford, 8th- 11th June, near complete printed and handwritten scores in ink, South Africans 185 & 150, Lancashire 191 & 145/4, Lancashire won by six wickets. Faults to one scorecard as described, odd adhesive marks and folds to others, otherwise in good condition.
