South v North, The Oval, 10th-12th September 1908. Large album page very nicely signed in ink by the North team. The twelve signatures are Hawke (Capt), A.H. Hornby, Levi Wright, E. Smith, Haworth Watson (Yorkshire wicket-keeper), H. Dean, E. Hayes, Tyldesley, Denton, Hirst, Newstead and Haigh. Ernest Hayes has signed the page but actually played for the South team. To the verso are twelve ink signatures of the Leicestershire team of 1908, again very nicely signed in ink. Signatures are Odell, Shields, Wood, Coe, King, Knight, Curtis, R.T. Crawford, V.F.S. Crawford, Whitehead, Astill and Jayes. The page measures 6.75”x9”. Early pre WWI signatures. Very good condition
The South won by an innings and 54 runs. For the North, E.J. Smith top scored in the first innings with 71 runs. Buckenham for the South did the damage taking eleven wickets in the match
