‘The London Chronicle’ 1789. Early original eight page newspaper/ magazine for Saturday 11th April to Tuesday 14th April 1789. Sold by T. Wilkie, St. Paul’s Churchyard, London. Column 2 of the final page features an eight line article, ‘We are informed, that Sir Henry St. John’s park keeper, at Dogmersfield park near Odiham, Hants, who shot six pigeons flying, out of ten, with a single ball, has since to decide a bet [to] hit a cricket ball with common shot twelve times successively, bowled betwixt the wickets by Harris, one of the fastest bowlers in the Hambledon Club’. Partial duty stamp to lower left corner of page four. Minor wear to fold, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
