Sir Courtenay Edmund Boyle. Oxford University 1865-1867. Single page folding handwritten letter in ink on 13, Portman Street, London letterhead to a Mr Maxwell, dated 17th July 1871. Boyle is enclosing a ‘paper on Lords Cricket, which I hope will be worth its space... I have avoided... certain technicalities which in Oxford and Cambridge may be acceptable to male readers of Belgravia’. Nicely signed ‘Courtenay Boyle’. Some soiling and light creasing, otherwise in good condition.
Boyle played twenty four first-class cricket matches between 1865 and 1872. In 1866 and 1867 he was champion tennis player at Oxford and in both years defeated the Cambridge Champion.
