The Ashes. England v Australia 1930. Official mono real photograph postcard of the England team seated and standing in rows wearing cricket attire and assorted blazers. Printed title ‘First Test Team’ and players’ names to lower border. Players featured include Chapman (Captain), Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Hammond, Woolley, Hendren, Larwood, Tate, Duleepsinhji etc. Nice handwritten correspondence to verso, dated ‘London 3/7/30’ presumably to an addressee in Australia. ‘You would all be very delighted at home with the result of the Second Test... I was sorry I did not see Bradman making his big score, we were a little disappointed when he went out for one in the second innings. He is a very fine fieldsman & did some good work’. Publisher unknown. Light crease to top right corner, otherwise in very good condition.
Australia (729/6 dec & 72/3) beat England (425 & 375) by seven wickets. Bradman scored 254 in Australia’s first innings.
