South Africa tours to England 1947-1965. Five miniature replica bats by G. Warsop & Sons, Marylebone, covering the Test matches played, mainly at Lord’s. The 1947 bat stamped ‘E. Patsy Hendren’ with trademark cannon emblem stamp to face below the splice, all others ‘Extra Special’. All bats with maker’s names to shoulders, all bar one with ‘Warsop’ stamped to the top of the handle, each of which has two or three rubber inserts. All bats are fully signed in ink to the face by members of the England and South African teams with the exception of the 1960 which is signed to the face by England players and to the verso by the South Africans. The bats are for seasons 1947 (23 signatures including Yardley, Hutton, Hollies, Compton, Melville, Nourse, Viljoen, A. Rowan etc.), 1951 (27 including Brown, Hutton, Bedser, Statham, McGlew, Mansell, E. Rowan, van Ryneveld etc.), 1955 (27 including May, Trueman, Graveney, Wardle, Cheetham, Waite, Goddard etc.), 1960 (23 including Cowdrey, Subba Row, Barrington, Dexter, McGlew, O’Linn, Fellows-Smith etc.), and 1965 (22 including M.J.K. Smith, Boycott, Parks, Edrich, van der Merwe, Pollock, Barlow, Bland etc.). Four of the bats have an initial stamped or handwritten to the toe, possibly of the apprentice maker. The bats measures 18” tall by 3” wide. Slight bleeding and minor fading to the odd signature, rubber grips and bats in immaculate condition.
