The following ten lots comprise an excellent collection of fully autographed miniature replica cricket bats made by an apprentice working for the bat maker, G. Warsop & Sons of Marylebone. The bats were made by the Warsop batmakers’ apprentices on the completion of their five-year apprenticeships. Two of each bats were taken to Lord’s, sometimes elsewhere, where they were signed at matches by participating team members and officials, Lord’s retaining an example of each bat. The firm of B. Warsop & Sons made bats for some 150 years at Park Road, St. John’s Wood until its closure in 1973, and this set of bats was the property of Warsop’s last apprentice. The bats were originally displayed in two large display cases and have been removed for sale in this auction.
